REGEN CLASSES
What is Regen? Regen Classes are built on the ELDOA method.
ELDOA is a French acronym that translates to osteoarticular decoaptation.
To break that down simply:
Osteoarticular: Refers to the bones and joints.
Decoaptation: The act of opening or creating space.
The primary goal of ELDOA is to create "breathing room" between the joints to improve mobility and function. For anyone struggling with back pain or spinal compression, these targeted movements can be absolutely game-changing.
If you're looking to incorporate mobility, recovery, and injury mitigation into your training goals, myofascial stretching and ELDOA are a great place to start.
As we go through training and life, we are bound to encounter various aches and pains in our muscles and joints. The goal of myofascial stretching and ELDOA is to create optimal length and space in muscles and joints, respectively.
For example: if you are experiencing knee pain and tightness after doing squats, it could very well be the muscles of your quadriceps are too tight, and thereby compressing the joint. The goal of myofascial stretching will be to show how to stretch those muscles with respect to their anatomy to create lasting change to help alleviate the knee pain.
The goal of these classes is to teach you how to put yourself back together after a hard training session: if you train the muscle, you should stretch the muscle.
Your job is doing something to your body
Some of the people in these classes have never played a sport. They are dentists, surgeons, hygienists and nurses — people who spend their working lives leaning forward over somebody else, neck down and arms up, holding one position for hours at a time.
We call them Surgical-Athletes, because the problem is the same one an athlete has. A sport loads your body in one direction, over and over, and eventually you pay for it. So does an occupation. The difference is that an athlete gets to retire in their thirties and a dentist works until sixty-five.
Every sport and every occupation is the same problem solved with a body. If we know what the job is doing to your anatomy, we can do something about it — before it becomes the thing that ends your career.
The same work, a different load
ELDOA and myofascial stretching create space where the job has been taking it away — through the neck and shoulders, the mid-back, the low back and the hips. It is the same work that decompresses a lifter's spine after a heavy session. A spine folded over a patient chair for nine hours needs it just as badly.
- Dentists, hygienists and oral surgeonsSustained forward head posture, elevated arms, neck and upper back
- Surgeons and OR staffLong static standing, loaded shoulders, thoracic stiffness
- Nurses and techsLifting, twisting and long shifts on their feet
- Desk and screen workersHips, low back and a mid-back that has stopped moving
- Drivers and tradesHeld positions and repeated one-sided loading
- Anyone with a stiff, aching backYou do not need an occupation to qualify. Most people's backs are asking for the same thing.
These are movement classes, not medical care. Brazos Valley Barbell does not diagnose, treat, or provide physical therapy or clinical pain management. If you are under the care of a physician or physical therapist, this works alongside them — not instead of them. See class pricing and options.
